Personne qui va recevoir le sacrement de la confirmation (cf. ce mot A 1). Il fit avertir les confirmands et leurs parents que la confirmation aurait lieu le jeudi suivant (BILLY, Introïbo, 1939, p. 109).
Rem. Lar. encyclop., DUB., Lar. Lang. fr. attestent un fém. confirmande. L'état de la docum. ne permet pas de vérifier l'existence de cette forme. ROB. n'atteste que le masculin.
Prononc. et Orth. :[], fém. [-]. Ds Ac. 1932. Étymol. et Hist. 1909 (Lar. pour tous). Empr. au lat. chrét. confirmandus (XIIIe s. Durand de Mende ds Archéol. chrét., col. 2531) adj. verbal de confirmare terme de liturg., v. confirmer.
